The Comets swim team booster club is made up of dedicated parent volunteers that believe in the mission of the swim team. Its no surprise that the top performing swim clubs across the country also have incredible booster clubs. This is because parents that volunteer their talents to the swim program help the team set high goals and strive to reach them. By counting on the extra resource that parents offer, coaches can set more ambitious goals and plan to offer extended services to their swimmers.

Planning and organizing events like team trips, training camps, social activities, hosting meets, and setting up fundraising activities all require a high level of energy, resources and manpower; often more than what the coach can offer working alone.

All the activities mentioned have the potential to greatly enhance the overall swimming experience offered to a club's members. Athletes belonging to a team with a great booster club benefit from the increase in variation of training and competition opportunities, social events and extra funding brought into the program (think travel meet costs defrayed, free team apparrel and scholarships for seniors).

Therefore, parents that believe in the goals of the team and want to offer the highest quality program to their child should strive to be active participants in the team's Booster Club. Everyone benefits from the resources in time and energy that parents have to offer.

So the next time you see a swimmer thrilled by achieving their swimming goals, ask yourself how many people may have contributed to helping that athlete find success? Odds are, there exists a group of dedicated volunteers than can smile knowing their efforts assisted that swimmer.
